Ringed by bushland and Booderee National ParkHyams Beach is just a picturesque drive away from the gorgeous towns of Huskisson, Vincentia and Nowra in The Shoalhaven. Just under 3 hours from Sydney and Canberra by car and 1 1/2 hours drive from Wollongong, Jervis Bay is a very convenient South Coast getaway. The location is also easily accessible by train to Bomaderry (near Nowra) travelling via the South Coast Line from Central via Kiama. There is also a bus service 102 from Bomaderry Station to Hyams Beach. Jervis Bay offers a multitude of activities to enjoy. In fact, the whole Shoalhaven area, with approximately 80% of Jervis Bay being habitat protection zones, is a sanctuary for marine life to thrive and to experience

the many wonders of nature.

    THE DRIVE - M5 via The Southern Highlands and down to the coast.

    From Sydney take the M5 to The Southern Highlands and then down the mountain via Jambaroo or Kangaroo Valley to the coast.

  • Bioluminescense appears In the warm, dark sky months but famously unpredictable. The water appears to glow due to Noctiluca floating on the water surface. Spectacular if you are lucky enough to see it. Follow hashtags #bioluminescensejervisbay on social medi to see when it is happening.

  • Being surrounded by National Park, there is an abundance of wildlife in and around Hyams Beach including kangaroos , native birds , Echidnas plus Jervis Bay is a Marine Park . About 80 per cent of it is made up of “habitat protection zones” and “general purpose zones”, both of which permit recreational fishing. Other areas include “sanctuary zones” where no fishing is allowed.   • Hyams Beach is home to bottlenose dolphins, fur seals, seabirds and little penguins. Humpback and southern right whales also make an appearance during their annual migration along the NSW South Coast. You may be lucky enough enough to see a mother whale on her way back to Antartica bring her calf into the bay for rest. Tours to see dolphins and migrating whales leave from Huskisson, a short drive north from Hyams Beach. Bring your snorkel and discover the underwater wonderland that awaits you from the beach.
